Retaining Rings

Retaining rings – commonly referred to as “snap rings” – provide shoulders to locate or retain parts on shafts or in cylinders.  They can be used internally or externally, depending on the application.

Peterson Spring specially designed equipment to produce retaining rings with maximum efficiency in the most cost-effective manner possible.  This is key to remaining competitive with cost-conscious clients.  Skilled operators produce millions of coiled rings each year on state of the art equipment.  Coiled rings boast an important cost advantage over stamped rings by eliminating blanked scrap and avoiding the need for cost-prohibitive tooling along with a hardening process.

Peterson Spring is capable of producing rings with inner diameters ranging from 1.57 mm to 1830 mm.  Nearly limitless gap configurations assist with assembly, disassembly and identification.  Ground surfaces and a variety of notches or holes at the ring gap can also be provided.
