1914, Norwegian immigrant August Christian Peterson
and his son, Alfred, founded the first mechanical
spring factory in Detroit. Seven decades later,
Peterson American Corporation, an international
group of Peterson Spring Companies, is the largest
privately owned spring maker group headquartered
in North America.
Our product lines include engine valve springs,
rings, multiform clips, wire forms, hose clamps,
stampings and an expanding list of patented/special
components.

SMI
PAC is a very active member of the Spring Manufacturers
Institute (SMI), the North American trade organization
for spring makers. Bud and Pete Peterson have
both served two year-terms as SMI President. In
1989 Bud received the SMI's Golden Coil Award
for contributions of lasting importance to the
spring industry. Numerous PAC employees have served
on SMI committees.
